Northwest Architectural Company and Jubany Architecture Merge to Create NAC|Architecture

Northwest Architectural Company and Jubany Architecture have combined their practices under the new name NAC|Architecture effective Nov. 15, 2006, creating an architectural firm with offices in three states and a staff of more than 150. NAC|Architecture builds on the talent, resources and award-winning work of the combined firms as well as a shared focus on public projects, design innovation, and client service.

"The consolidation of expertise and knowledge gives great depth to our services and enhances our capability to serve clients," Bruce E. Blackmer, FAIA, president and chief executive officer, explains. "It is an ideal union. Both firms are passionate about serving the communities in which they practice through publicly funded projects – particularly those for educational, healthcare and institutional clients. The firms also have the same core values, approach to projects, and dedication to design creativity.”

Founded in 1960, the former Northwest Architectural Company (NAC) brings to the new firm an extensive roster of prominent clients in education, healthcare, laboratory, biotechnology, recreation, hospitality, civic, cultural and extended care markets. Initially serving clients in the Northwest, NAC has more recently been securing commissions throughout the country. The merger with Jubany Architecture allows NAC, which has offices in Washington and Idaho, to more effectively extend its services and expertise to regions outside the Northwest.

Established in Los Angeles by Helena L. Jubany, AIA, in 1989, the former Jubany Architecture brings to NAC|Architecture a distinguished portfolio in educational and institutional architecture. At the core of Jubany's practice is K-12 and higher education. The combined firm will continue to provide services throughout Southern California under the name Jubany-NAC|Architecture.

"The merger enables us to offer a broader range of services throughout California and the Northwest,” Helena Jubany, corporate director and managing principal Los Angeles, notes. “With our combined skill base and strong passions, NAC|Architecture will bring our clients tremendous creativity and fresh perspectives. We’ll be able to provide clients with national talent yet maintain our commitment to a local focus.”

The combined practice will continue to provide architectural services from its existing offices in Los Angeles, Calif., Seattle and Spokane, Wash., and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
